Data Scientist II (Biomarkers)
Position Summary:
Organizes, manages, and analyzes biomarker data in preclinical and clinical studies. Major team contributor in the areas of translational research and diagnostic biomarker development.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Apply data analysis tools and programming methods to provide statistical analysis and visualization to generate insights and knowledge in preclinical and clinical studies
- Organize data and evaluate data quality of studies
- Write, document, and maintain code in R and SQL to transform, standardize and aggregate data to create analysis-ready data sets from raw data
- Participate in designing, planning and developing studies
- Contribute to development of diagnostic biomarker for clinical use
- Responsible for selection and technical monitoring of CROs, including analytical methods and bioanalysis
- Manage external resources in a small company environment
- Collaborate with R&D and clinical colleagues, member of the development team, present results to various internal and external audiences, and communicate effectively
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BS/BA or MS/MA in a scientific discipline and appropriate work experience. PhD in a scientific discipline is preferred
- 3+ years of work experience in a research and/or development environment is preferred
- Strong programing skill and experience in bioinformatics is preferred
- Experience in developing diagnostic biomarkers is a plus
- Experience in metabolic disease is a plus
- Able to build effective working relationships throughout the organization to achieve goals
- Maintains knowledge of state-of-the–art principles and theories and possesses advanced knowledge of scientific principles and concepts in field of expertise
- Ability to work independently and effectively on cross-functional project teams
- Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables
- Demonstrates potential for a high level of proficiency, creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought process
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and data analysis.
